Of the various reasons that attract travelers to Africa, the one that tops the list is the rich, varied and abundant Wildlife that exists in this continent. There are umpteen numbers of national parks, wildlife sanctuaries and forest reserves in Ghana and they are open to visitors for general viewing, trekking and jeep safaris.

Visitors are encouraged to trek into the wild along beaten paths and camp overnight at designated places. Trekkers often see wild animals and sometimes encounter underground passages and cliffs, from where they can see distant villages and vegetation. Carry appropriate clothing and gear for trekking when planning for a safari. Prefer low visibility clothing to avoid startling the animals. Gear must include a hat, sunglasses, a pair of sturdy boots, a water canteen, binoculars and a battery-powered flashlight. Experienced and armed guides will accompany you on the safari and they will teach you the art of trekking, explain to you about the animals, the terrain and protect you from some animals who unusually feel threatened. You also need them to guide you across the route, in choosing the correct paths and spotting campsites without difficulty. You may choose to ride a Land Rover safari on request, but a foot safari is recommended in order to have an adventurous and satisfying experience.
