29 Jan. 2005, - The Tema Collection Point of the Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) exceeded its 2004 revenue target of 7.207 trillion cedis by 400 million cedis.

The Tema Collection Point, which collects over 70 percent of the national revenue realised 5.4 trillion cedis in 2003, Mr. Africanus Owusu-Ansah, Assistant Commissioner of the Tema CEPS stated at an end-of year get-together for the staff on Friday night at Tema. He attributed the achievement to the hard work of the officers and staff and urged them to continue with the same zeal to improve upon the performance next year.

He said as a morale booster, management would do their best to provide a congenial working environment and better working conditions to facilitate their work.

He assured them accommodation in town to alleviate the inconveniency of shuttling between Tema and Kasoa. Mr. Owusu-Ansah expressed gratitude to all stakeholders operating within the Tema port, whose complementary work contributed to the tremendous achievement.

He however, expressed concern about the congestion at the port, saying that the CEPS would work towards its solution.

"There is an unpleasant development in the port, that is congestion. We, on our part as CEPS feel regretful that there is so much congestion. We want to assure our numerous customers that we ... will contribute positively to any measure aimed at improving the situation".
